Dr David Gordon Scott
Dr David Gordon Scott is a criminologist and abolitionist who works for The Open University. David has engaged in socialist activism focussed on prisons, punishment and radical alternatives for over 30 years. He has led campaigns against prison building and conducted extensive critical research in prisons in England and Wales. He has published widely, including 15 books: his most recent titles are Against Imprisonment (Waterside Press), For Abolition (Waterside Press), and The International Handbook of Penal Abolition (Routledge). David has also regularly contributed to debates in the mainstream media on penal abolition, including the BBC Ideas Viewpoint 'What would a world without prisons look like'.
