Bristol Squatted: a Walking Tour

Sports Hall, Docklands

Sunday, 18th June 10:00 – 11:10

Walking tour beginning and ending at Docklands - followed by a discussion in the Docklands cafe

Squatting is central to Bristol’s history. For the last fifty years, today Stokes Croft has been one of the city’s most squatted neighbourhoods. This short walking tour includes a selection of buildings squatted in and around Stokes Croft in the 1970s, 1980s, 2000s and 2010s. The buildings were used by a variety of people and groups for housing, political organising, art, music and as social centres. Join us to look back at what Bristol owes to squatting, to learn from this history, and to discuss the place this tactic can have today.

Note that Bristol Co-operative Gym will be running a class on healthy posture, recovery, and exercise, also starting at 11am in the Docklands Centre.
