The Art of Revolution - November session

Docklands Centre (lounge)

Saturday, 18th November 14:00 – 16:00

[Specific details of this session TBA soon!]

Seven sessions discovering, exploring and creating posters for the revolution.

Posters were vital in spreading support for the revolutions of the twentieth century. Cheap to mass produce, ephemeral, tied to time and place; many posters have had far-reaching, long-lasting impact.

The first 6 sessions will each focus on a different revolution, starting with a look at the symbols and cultural touchstones used to convey information and arouse emotion in largely illiterate populations.

The rest of the session will be used to create posters inspired by those we’ve seen, using our own cultural touchstones and symbols to convey the need for a contemporary socialist revolution.

In the 7th session we’ll finish any ongoing work and curate an exhibition of the posters we have created, to be displayed at Trinity Church for the Bristol Transformed festival.

Come to any or all sessions, no artistic talents necessary. Basic materials will be provided but bring along any equipment or materials you would like to use in addition.

Pay what you can, suggested donation £7, solidarity £10.
