Left Attitudes on War: Deep Politics

This session will start by discussing episodes 5 & 6 of Blowback S4 - covering the web of USA interests and terrorist connections from the Soviet withdrawal all the way up to 9/11. Discussion will focus on how parts of the government work behind the scenes to get what they want through extralegal means - secret alliances, criminal contacts, and more.

What stance should socialists take when their country is involved in a war? How does the media twist perceptions of conflicts in order to garner support at home? Do foreign interventions ever achieve their stated goals?

Using season 4 of Blowback as our starting point, we will discuss these questions and many more across 7 bi-weekly sessions at PRSC. All knowledge levels welcome, come along and get involved! Don't worry if you haven't listened to the previous episodes or come to earlier sessions; each session will stand alone.
