Childcare in Activism - with the BT Childcare Caucus
Tuesday, 27th January 18:30 – 20:00
The Bristol Transformed Childcare Caucus was established last year, providing free childcare at BT and other socialist meetings. Beyond just providing care, they also aim to politically engage volunteers, including education on the political significance of childcare and how it enables wider participation in activism. Across two events this spring, we will discuss the historical role of childcare in activism!
At this first event we will discuss this history, encouraging participants to share their own experiences and knowledge. We will explore how childcare has evolved within political movements, including the benefits and challenges brought by safeguarding requirements.
Our second event in March will build on this by incorporating a brief history of our own Childcare Caucus and its development within Bristol Transformed!
What to expect
After a short introductory talk, we will discuss the topic in small groups, with some time to feed back to the whole room.
Most of our events have somewhere between 10-30 attendees.
We aim for every event to be accessible to everyone, regardless of any prior knowledge!
Childcare
Dedicated childcare will not be provided for this event, but children are very welcome (and we will have toys and snacks).
